About the event
Immerse yourself in the powerful visions of three acclaimed composers of different eras. Bohemian Antonin Dvorak's 1889 Symphony 8 evokes the pastoral beauty of the highland forest, with birdsong and folk dance. American Ulysses Kay's 1963 Fantasy Variations blends lush melodies with modern atonality to build a simple musical theme to a triumphant climax. Peter Tchaikovsky wrote his 1878 Violin Concerto to showcase the skills of virtuoso violinists, and you will hear the concerto's first movement performed brilliantly by Neal Eisfeldt, the winner of our 2024 solo contest for high school musicians. Neal is a freshman at Stevenson High School in Lincolnshire.
